17 Again takes first in Weekend Box Office // 19 Apr 2009
Nice guys finish first: Zac Efron proved he's a potent marquee name, as his new movie 17 Again grabbed the gold among new releases this weekend, with an estimated North American gross of $24.1 million, its very pleased studio, Warner Bros., said Sunday.
Original box-office projections for the PG-13 movie had been in the low $20 million, say industry sources, so the final take had Dan Fellman, Warners president of domestic distribution, telling Reuters, "We're going to have some legs on this film." Source
In 2007, the musical "Hairspray," which co-starred Efron, opened first at $27.5 million. Last year, Efron's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" bowed with $42 million, and while "17 Again" may have fallen short of that mark, it still represents an auspicious maiden voyage for Efron's post-Disney career. 17 Again Review! // 19 Apr 2009
So I went to watch the movie, 17 Again and it was............AMAZING!! I loved every minute of it. It was very different from all the other "going back to their young age movies." The acting was terrific. I really liked Leslie Mann, she did a great job! And lastly, Zac did a wonderful job, he is such a talented actor and hilarious too. I recommend you all to watch the movie. You won't be disappointed!
