| Many of us can relate to the kind of life Zac Efron had growing up. Geeky, misunderstood, and not so good with the opposite sex. Now, that same shy school kid is one of the biggest sex symbols on earth. While many kids were playing sports, going to the malls, or playing video games, Zac was doing other things. "I don't remember Zac being popular at all," Joyce Hartwig, a secretary at Arroyo Grande High School, told a British newspaper. "He wasn't exactly the school heart-throb, he didn't really mingle with the other students because he was always at the theatre and you never saw him with girls. And he had individual tutoring, so he wasn't part of many lessons here either. He certainly wasn't viewed as anything special just because he wanted to be an actor." His parents first discovered his talent while on a two-week road trip, during which the 11-year-old spent most of his time singing. Two weeks after that his parents took him to auditions for a local production of the musical Gypsy. Without any acting or musical training he got the part. Soon after a drama teacher suggested that Zac audition for TV, and at 17 he was cast in the Disney hit High School Musical. The film made close to a billion dollars, making Zac a star. Fortunately, according to his parents, his success has not affected his attitude. "Zac was raised very grounded. He was busy here in town doing plays and all that," said his mother Starla Baskett. "He's had the same friends all his life, and he didn't really get into the Hollywood scene. Thank heaven for that. He's still Zac. That's from growing up here." (Source:Radar Online) |

| Former teen heartthrob David Cassidy dropped in some lines of wisdom for the 20-year-old High School Musical actor Zac Effron including: Keep it real. The veteran actor, who dazed many with his role as Keith Partridge, in the 1970s musical The Partridge Family, advised the budding artist not let fame get to his head. All I can say to Zac is that as long as he does good work, doesnt lose his mind and stays grounded as a human being he will be fine, People magazine quoted him as telling the Daily Mail. But he better fasten his seatbelt because it is going to be a very bumpy ride, he added. The 58-year-old singer-guitarist, who is set to begin a U.K. concert tour, insisted that ones sustenance in the showbiz depended on ones talent rather than having people hailing your stardom. He said: It is about the talent, and never about how many fans or photographers you have got outside your home. (Source: News Post Online) |

| Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, and Zac Efron at the the premiere of High School Musical 3: Senior Year at the Greater Union George Street cinemas on Monday in Sydney, Australia. The trio was accompanied by director Kenny Ortega, who said, “I never would have thought this film would have had the global reach it has. I wept my eyes out on our final scene when the curtain came down. I had that bitter-sweet moment parents have when they send their kids off to college. I do fear for them because it’s a fickle industry and there’s lots of traps. But I have great confidence … that they are going to make good decisions and stay around for a minute.”
