It ain’t so. But if Zac Efron signs on for the much-talked about sequel to the 2007 movie musical Hairspray, his character Link Larkin would! Producer Marc Shaiman tells MTV that the sequel would be a true John Waters-type film. But what about the plot? He shares, “People hate Tracy (Nikki Blonsky) because she doesn’t lose weight. They ask ‘Now that you’re famous, why won’t you lose weight?’. And Link (Efron) experiments with drugs. Throughout half the movie, he has an ongoing dialogue with three pimples on his forehead. Edna (John Travolta) loses weight, but sees her husband (Christopher Walken) lusting after fat women. And so, she finally breaks down and runs over to a snack table. Just within one number, she gets fat again; gaining 20 pounds at a time. [Her fat] pops out, and by the end of the song she’s completely at her old weight again.”

Zac Efron and Leonardo DiCaprio have a lot in common, including the fact both of them achieved superstardom at very young ages. Now the two heartthrob actors appear to be involved in a blossoming bro-mance. Not only were the two filmed together at a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game recently, they were also spotted at the GQ Awards, involved in what appeared to be a deep discussion. DiCaprio already hangs out with Kevin Connolly and Lukas Haas and he's said to be considering Efron for the club. "Give me a call some time and let's shoot the sh*t sometime," OK! reports DiCaprio saying to Efron. He then proceeded to hand him his cell phone number. It looks like a great Hollywood bro-mance might now be under way.

SEEING the High School Musical films was once confined to pay-TV subscribers and those who waited until they arrived on free-to-air channels. But tomorrow the hit Disney TV franchise gets its first airing in Australian cinemas with the release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, just in time for the school holiday season. Disney Australia managing director Alan Finney said the film's Jam Factory premiere with stars Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens on November 12 gave an indication of how big the film will be here. "They started assembling there at 8.30 in the morning," he said. "I had no idea that was going to happen, and to be honest, in all of my time in the industry I've never known such awareness and enthusiasm. "We'd never had so many people requesting premiere tickets. I've never been pressured so much in my life. "After that, the bookings just went berserk." The film has already been a bonanza in the US. Costing a slim $17 million to make, it's already returned $138 million since opening there on October 24. Its young stars are well and truly household names. Zac Efron added to his profile by starring in last year's megahit Hairspray. Leigh Paatsch reviews the film in today's extrahit but we also got the opinion of the film's target audience: teenagers. Read their reviews below. Kate Metlikovec, 15, of Churchill I'm really sad that this is going to be the last of the HSM films, because I, like lots of my friends, have been a big fan. There really isn't anything that could have been done to make the movie any better. My favourite part was when the characters Troy (Zac Efron) and Chad (Corbin Bleu) sang and danced to The Boys Are Back. It was a really fun dance, set in a junk yard, which included the boys reminiscing about when they were kids growing up together, long before they went to East High and became Wildcats. Zac Efron is my favourite actor and his performance was very good. But I think the best actor in this particular movie is Ashley Tisdale. She plays the mean girl, Sharpay Evans, and is very believable. Rebecca Park, 17 and Daniel Bird, 18 of Langwarrin Walking into the cinema, we were excitedly anticipating the ending to the East High Wildcats' year. And High School Musical 3: Senior Year does not disappoint. It is the best of the HSM franchises. The musical numbers are bigger and better and the plot works well. Although there were a few deja vu moments between the first and second movie, High School Musical 3 is no letdown on the romance front, especially in the dance scene shared by Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens). We are also introduced to East High's new Wildcats. HSM 3 is a true farewell to the characters we have grown to love. Fans will leave satisfied that the series has ended exactly as they would have wanted, in true Disney fashion. Source:Herald Sun
